Shinkikai Giken Co., Ltd. (SKG) is a manufacturer specializing in machine tools. Our job is not simply manufacturing machines but making our clients' demands for precision, cycle time, and durability a reality. To accomplish this, we work closely with our clients at every stage—from the initial meeting with the sales representative, through design, parts manufacturing, and assembly leveraging our original technological capabilities and out-of-the-box thinking, to after-sales service.
SKG has no product catalog. We create a truly one of a kind product lineup according to each client’s specifications.
Fostering Professional Designers and Developers
The source of SKG’s developmental capabilities lies in our training of professionals. Through a training period emphasizing five years of on-site training, we foster a comprehensive range of technological skills and out-of-the-box thinking. Our technicians gain understanding in all necessary fields including design, measurement, and electrical control; and leveraging experience gained on site, they constantly strive to create machine tools to our clients’ satisfaction.
Everything from design to assembly is handled by SKG’s in-house technologies.
We handle the design, development, and careful assembly of a variety of original components and devices such as high-speed spindles and compensation devices for cutting tools.
At SKG we develop our own numerical controllers—the so-called brain of the machine—and our FPM Series of numerical controllers for special purpose machines, together with general-purpose numerical controllers available in the market, offers clients with a wide selection for their controlled environment.
We design and manufacture a variety of spindles, such as multi-spindle drills, taps, and boring spindles according to our clients’ needs. Examples of our high-speed spindles include direct mounted motor spindles and built-in motor spindles. We conduct, in our factory, dynamic balance correction at high-speed rotation for high-speed spindles to achieve high-precision machining. And spindles with special functions such as eccentric spindles and U-axis spindles are also important modules of machining technologies.
Compensation Device for Cutting Tools
We use a special holder with a built-in tool diameter compensation function for high-precision drilling and especially boring. This special holder can be made possible with a variety of technologies. One of which is the holder that contains two piezoelectric elements positioned symmetrically to the center. By controlling the voltage applied to the piezoelectric elements via an in-house manufactured drive unit, it changes the position of the drill tip in the radial direction on the quill attached to the end of the holder, thereby enabling the adjustment of the drilling diameter down to the micron. This holder with built-in tool diameter compensation function after being carefully corrected in its dynamic balance enables use in high speed rotation.
Demands for precision measurement become higher and tougher day by day, and many clients now require workpieces to be measured down to 1/1000 mm or less. We make sure that we accurately grasp clients' needs and examine whether a machine can meet to those needs. To accomplish this, our measuring instruments are at the level of the world top class (namely, Lion, Heidenhain, etc.), not to mention three-dimensional coordinate measuring machines (such as Leitz and Mitsutoyo).
Special purpose machines must be stable in action, easy to maintain, and their manufacturer must have a support system to put clients at ease. For this purpose SKG has established AS (After Service) Center to immediately assist clients in case trouble arises. SKG machines are being in operation around the globe, from China and the US, to South East Asian countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and India. And in order to provide service quickly to our clients in South East Asia, we have established an affiliate company, SKG ASIA Sdn. Bhd., in Malaysia.
